“Guess the Chunk on the Hunk” is a juvenile, lighthearted and contemporary take on a vintage magazine ‘spot the difference’ style of puzzle in response to a brief that requests a puzzle design based upon current events. The outcome parodies the visual elements, shapes and layouts of girly magazines from the 1970’s and 80’s and combines this with a concept from an early 2000’s magazine that features a quiz that asks for the viewer to guess the body parts of famous celebrities, the format has been hijacked and body parts have been replaced with modern day pop culture references and memes from 2022 to respond to the brief effectively. The typographic elements use a font d designed from studio Nari, who were involved in proposing the brief.
